  "I am a Drill Sergeant"
The first U.S. Army Drill Sergeant Course was conducted in 1964 at Fort Jackson, creating a new era for Army Training and the acheivements of NCO Personnel. Less than 10-years later, a Command Sergeants Major assumed the position of Commandant. The school has since been named the United States Army Drill Sergeant School.
The U.S. Army Drill Sergeant Badge was designed by the Heraldic Division of the Quartermasters General's Office. The 13 Stars represent the Thirteen original Colonies. The Snake is a symbol of preparedness. On the Scroll is printed the motto, "THIS WE'LL DEFEND. The Armored Breast Plate is a symbol of strength and the background is a vestment worn under the armored breast plate.
It is called a Jupon which represents the Army. The Torch is a symbol of liberty that shines over all.
HandCrafted from 5 different fine Hardwoods, this Handsome Plaque measures 12" across.
